PHYSICAL EDUCATION

This is Dr. Chandler again, and I have the unique opportunity of also being the Physical Education Teacher for Pinnacle Academy this year!

I have coached a variety of sports such as ice hockey, basketball, and soccer at the youth, high school and college level. However, my philosophy of Physical Education is quite simple. It is supposed to be fun!

PE is not the training ground for the high school team, and the blood circulates the same whether you are doing 250 jumping jacks or playing in a game of tag or running in an obstacle course relay race, or throwing frisbees in a  game of Ultimate. So I always do the thing that involves fun, spirited competition, nobody getting excluded, and athletes and non athletes sweating and breathing hard and having actual fun rather than the looks you see on the faces of people "working out"! - they aren't smiling!

What's been happening in PE since school started?

I'm glad you asked! We now have a lot of talented frisbee throwers for one thing, and we've played a lot  of Ultimate Frisbee. However, our K- 2 students have been throwing, catching, (fine and gross motor skills, manual dexterity) balancing, cardio with fun races, and a variety of fun inclusive games. For our 3-4th graders- relay races, tag games, lead uop soccer games, and stretching.

5-th graders- Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, and various tag and dodgeball games with a touch of Golf! The 7th and 8th graders have played Soccer and Ultimate Frisbee- the Winter poses a few challenges, but  it should be an adventure- maybe even some sledding if there is snow  on the ground!

GOOD, BETTER, BEST...NEVER LET IT REST...TILL YOUR GOOD IS BETTER, AND YOUR BETTER, BEST!
